Clyde's has been in the DMV for decades. This location is on Wisconsin Ave, near Tiffany's and WTOP's building. If you park in the restaurant lot, you can get two hours validated on your ticket. We visited on a Friday evening and the place wasn't crowded. The decor includes wonderful cars on display throughout the restaurant. The downstairs bar has a karaoke area (and restrooms). When the place is crowded, some of the tables are quite close to each other. I was happy that the table closest to us did not have any guests during our visit. The menu is pub grub and seafood items. I asked for a grilled cheese sandwich (not on the menu) and was accommodated. It is a nice place to catch up with friends. We weren't rushed while we lingered and chatted.

I came here with family on a Friday afternoon for lunch. The food was of great quality and our server was very nice, but there were a few things that I thought could be better, hence the 4 stars rather than 5. I don't intend to berate the restaurant, but rather supplement what others have probably noticed as well. For starters, the interior needs a face lift. I know people love the antique cars, but that doesn't mean that everything else needs to look like it was placed in the building at the same time. The lamp on the table didn't function, the wall I was facing was clearly missing a piece of art work and there was a very noticeable build up of dust on all the suitcases. Not to mention, it looked like the suitcases were weighing down the gold bars they were stacked on, as the overhead rails were all bending to the weight. One of our orders was suppose to come with cheddar and Swiss cheese, it clearly only came with Swiss. We also had one drink that was forgotten about until we were able to bring it to our waiters attention. Again, the food was fabulous and the server was very nice, but I guess to sum this up, some attention to the smaller details would make this review a 5 stars rather than 4.

Best place for late night happy hour oysters anywhere around the DMV you can always find Clyde's!

The remoulade and the greens really helped balance the spiciness of the calamari, which was tender and crispy.

Still one of my favorite restaurants after all these years. Service is consistently good. Food is consistently excellent. Atmosphere is relaxed. And there's a parking lot across the street (Clyde's will validate).

The Clyde's at Chevy Chase has a nice large menu, a beautifully decorated space, and a very friendly waitstaff (shout out to our friendly server Andrew). The food was great. Take a look at the arancini, the Florentine Eggs Benedict and the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich (which IS spicy, so ordering the side of fruit helps to cool the month down afterwards!).

We wanted to find a place to get a quick bite that was open late so we could sit, drink a bottle of wine, and chat for hours! Thankfully Clyde's is open late and they have a wide variety of options for food so it seemed perfect. We made a last minute reservation and it worked out great! The food was nothing super special, but it came out quickly and was good enough! We had had a big lunch prior to this so we didn't need much. The pierogis were great, the arancini was kinda cold but fine, the wings were alright (my boyfriend wanted old bay hot honey seasoning which wouldn't be my personal choice but he liked them!), and the salad was great! Honestly we came for the bottle of wine, but stayed for the food. Our server, Ian, was great and attentive. He seemed a little nervous and felt bad he wasn't more attentive but honestly he was totally fine and very nice! The restaurant itself was busy when we first got there at 8:15 pm so I'm not surprised things were a bit hectic! The vibes were good though and the restaurant was clean. I think this worked out nice because we weren't looking for anything crazy fancy, but it definitely made for a nice evening out.

Clyde's Chevy Chase holds a special place in my heart, as it has been a cherished destination since my childhood growing up in the area. Now, it's a delight to share this experience with my child, who is equally enamored by the vibrant ambiance, particularly the captivating trains in the main dining area and the vintage cars downstairs, which have become a ritual stop for us. The service has consistently been impeccable--attentive and thoughtful, ensuring every visit feels special. The menu never fails to impress. The burger is a classic, flawlessly executed, while the Parmesan-crusted trout is a delightful symphony of flavors. The steak is consistently cooked to perfection, and the crab soup is a standout, brimming with generous lumps of crab and seasoned to perfection. Clyde's Chevy Chase masterfully combines nostalgia and exceptional dining, creating memories for the next generation while remaining an enduring favorite for mine.
